ST. AUGUSTINE – The Bridge of Lions Rehabilitation Project team plans to close the end of Oglethorpe Boulevard at its intersection with St. Augustine Boulevard for approximately six to eight weeks beginning the week of April 28, 2008. The intersection of Oglethorpe Boulevard and St. Augustine Boulevard is located north of Anastasia Boulevard just east of the temporary Bridge of Lions.
This closure is necessary to reconstruct the entire intersection and sidewalk to accommodate safety and accessibility upgrades. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through alternate neighborhood streets during this extended closure.
Changes in the weather or delivery of construction materials may delay the beginning or the duration of this activity.
The Bridge of Lions Rehabilitation project, funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), began in February 2005 and is expected to last approximately five years, excluding potential weather delays. For more information regarding the bridge rehabilitation, please visit our website at www.FDOTBridgeofLions.com or contact Laurie Sanderson in the public information office at (904) 825-3647 or at info@FDOTBridgeofLions.com.
