ST. AUGUSTINE – Both lanes on the temporary bridge adjacent to the Bridge of Lions will be closed to motorist traffic for two hours early Wednesday morning, November 14, 2007 from 1:00 a.m. until 3:00 a.m. This closure will not affect pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk. Motorists are advised to use the SR 312 bridge as an alternative route.
This closure is necessary to make arrangements for future road and channel closures necessary to accommodate a large placement of concrete beneath the Bridge of Lions' piers at the channel.
The Bridge of Lions Rehabilitation project, funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), began in February 2005 and is expected to last approximately five years, excluding potential weather delays. For more information regarding the bridge rehabilitation, please visit our website at www.FDOTBridgeofLions.com or contact Laurie Sanderson in the public information office at (904) 825-3647 or at info@FDOTBridgeofLions.com.
